The Patrol Section is responsible for protecting life and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime, enforcing the law, arresting offenders, responding to calls for service, investigating and responding to complaints from citizens.

The Patrol Section is comprised of 4 platoons. Each platoon works a 12-hour shift and consists of a Lieutenant, 2 Sergeants, and approximately 8 officers. Two platoons work the day shift and the other 2 work the night shift.

Some of the Patrol Section's responsibilities are (but not limited to):
  • Conducts preventative patrols
  • Participates in crime prevention activities
  • Responds to 911 calls and other emergency and non-emergency calls for service
  • Conducts the primary investigations for all crimes
  • Enforces all city, state, federal laws
  • Traffic direction and control
  • Maintains public order
