The City of Hutchinson Fire Department does more than just fight fires.  We provide a wide range of services to the people we serve and protect. 

These services include emergency preparedness, education, prevention and response.  Through a visionary administration and skilled and dedicated workforce, the Hutchinson Fire Department has become an efficient and well respected team.  We hope you will consider joining us and help continue the tradition.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Be a United States citizen and able to prove legal eligibility to work with the United States
  • Have a valid driver's license and good driving record;
  • Have no felony convictions or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude;
  • Have no illegal drug use within the last 12 months;
  • Meet the medical requirements set forth in NFPA 1582  (National Fire Protection Association Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments)

Minimum Qualifications


  • Be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalency certificate;
  • Have a current certification as an EMT-B by the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services;
  • Must have passed FireTEAM written exam with a score of 70 or above in all sections (taken within 24 months with National Testing Network or Hutchinson Community College);
  • Must have a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Abilities Test) taken within the last 12 months.
