Re: Retirement Announcement

I would like to inform you of my desire to retire effective sometime in the spring of 2020. The exact date will depend on the search timeline for my replacement.

At the time of my retirement, I will have 40 years of service in the city management profession and 20 years with the City of Hutchinson which includes 5 years as the Assistant City Manager from 1989 -1994 and 15 years as city manager beginning in 2005. There comes a time to pass the torch and I feel the time is now for me. I can honestly say I have been blessed to have worked in local government for 40 years. I will look back with pride on my time in Sterling, Dodge City and Hutchinson. All great communities with great people and forever memories.

The Hutchinson City organization is in good shape now with some very talented leadership present in the Department Head level and the 400 employees working every day for this community. We have several projects in the pipeline which will continue to move forward under the leadership of the current staff and new city manager.

As I prepare to walk out the doors of city hall for the last time next spring, I will do it with some sadness and excitement as I move into the next phase of my life.
