Purchase Your 2012 Dog Tag

Did you realize that your dog is required by law to have a rabies certificate and a dog tag in the city limits of Hutchinson? Bring your rabies certificate with you to City Hall 125 East Avenue B from 8am to 5pm Monday - Friday or you may contact them with questions at 620-694-2616.  You may also purchase them at the Hutchinson Animal Shelter - 1501 South Severance from 1pm to 6pm Tuesday  - Friday or on the weekends from 2pm to 5pm. Feel free to contact them with questions at 620- 694-1924.  Dog tags need to be purchased by the first of each new year.  If your vet is local you may purchase the dog tag from your vet or else you will need to purchase the tag from City Hall or the Animal Shelter.

Dogs tags are beneficial for a lot of reasons, they can help your pet be returned to you faster if it becomes lost.  Purchasing a dog tag requires a current rabies vaccination, that means more dogs are kept rabies free and that keeps our community safer.  Please do your part to keep Hutchinson safe.  Get your dog tags today.

Breeders Licenses

If you are breeding dogs or cats inside the City limits you are required to have a Breeders License, according to Sec. 7-405 of the City Code. Even if you only breed one litter per year, you are required to obtain a license. Please contact Animal Control for more information or visit the Section to the left designated "Breeders License."

Adopting Your Next Pet From the Animal Shelter Is Literally Saving a Life

dog on a benchWhen you adopt a pet from the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, you not only receive a friend for life, you get a pet that is healthy and happy and has been given all of their vaccinations. They have also been micro-chipped and spayed or neutered. There are so many benefits to adopting a pet from the Hutchinson Animal shelter... we evaluate the adoption to ensure compatibility, we provide a history of the animal and its temperament and are up to date on their vaccinations. The most important benefit is that by adopting a shelter pet, you will be saving lives and you get a grateful new companion in return.

Animal shelters are an important service for any community. Usually, the staff does its job on a shoestring budget with little to no public funding or support. It's due to the tireless staff, volunteers and private donations that keep these shelters afloat. That is why when you adopt a new dog or cat, consider adopting from an animal shelter. It's the right thing to do for all involved.
