Monthly gathering on a neighborhood porch to listen to music, gather for discussion, or just get to know your neighbors.
Neighborhood progressive dinner parties provide a great opportunity to establish relationships with neighbors by giving an opportunity to socialize in a unique way. Select a 3-5 hosts, determine who will serve what and invite your neighbors! Bonus: everyone can walk or bike from home to home with worrying about cars or parking. More details on how to plan the event can be found here: http://www.bernardsassets.org/Document/ProgressiveDinnerPartyDocument.pdf
Here are a few ideas of how you can welcome a new neighbor or neighbors to the neighborhood: -introduce yourself -give them a small welcome gift such as: fresh batch of cookies,a casserole that can be frozen or refrigerated, fresh produce from your garden, an activity box for their children, a plant for their front porch, a door wreath, or just a simple card or note welcoming them to the neighborhood -offer to give them a tour of the neighborhood sometime at their convenience If nothing else...a smile and an introduction go a long way!
