Resources for Artists
The Hutchinson Public Art Program maintains an artist registry in order to notify interested artists of public are opportunities such as Percent for Public Art projects and other open calls. As opportunities arise, a notification will be emailed to everyone in the Artist Registry indicating the project scope and application instructions. To join the artist registry and recieve artist call information, please send an email to Justin.Combs@hutchgov.com, be sure to include "Artist Registry" in the subject line.
Most open calls for artists are posted on CallforEntry.org, aka CAFE, and also on the listserv for the Public Art Network through the Americans for the Arts. Calls for Artists will also be posted on the Public Art Blog here on the City's website.
The Artist's Guidebook will help artists to become familiar with the Hutchinson Public Art Design Council's process for artist application, selection and production of their projects once contracted.
Citizen-Initiated Public Art Permits and Forms
The Citizen-Initiated Public Art Project document includes an overview of the guidelines, steps, and criteria for developing citizen-initiated public art projects for placement on City of Hutchinson property of in the City right of way. Potential applicants are encouraged to read the instructions thoroughly prior to the application process. These instructions are for public art projects for murals, painted or wrapped utility boxes, and paint the pavement projects.
