Hutchinson City Manager Jeff Cantrell, announced today that after an extensive search, Izzy Rivera has been named the City’s new building official.
Under the general direction of the city manager, Rivera is primarily responsible for managing the City’s building code compliance and inspection program. He will oversee the residential and commercial building permit process; manage the work of City code inspectors; and interpret and explain related laws, ordinances, and code provisions to stakeholders. In addition, he will serve as primary liaison to the Building Trades Board.
Rivera comes to the City with more than thirty years of experience related to construction and building codes, including fifteen as a public employee working in inspection and code enforcement. For the last eight years, he has building official, most recently as the Director of Building Safety for the City of Amarillo, TX, where he also served as the Vice President of the International Code Council - Region 10 Coalition.
“Izzy brings with him a depth of knowledge and extensive experience in the field. We are excited for him to be here.” Cantrell said.
Rivera began his work at City Hall last week.
