The City Council is considering adoption of the 2006 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) which will provide a more comprehensive framework to address property maintenance concerns through the building inspection and code enforcement process. The code will also provide the city with a legal basis to address property maintenance deficiencies such as no exterior paint, broken windows, holes in the roof, and defective porches and steps which, in most cases, are not adequately addressed in the current city codes. The IMPC will address the interior and exterior physical condition and maintenance of all existing property, buildings and structures in Hutchinson to ensure that they are safe, sanitary and fit for habitation and use.

• Rental Property Standards, Ordinance No. 7541, Article XI of the Municipal Code, and;
• Ordinance No. 2003-47, an Ordinance Describing Guidelines for Enforcement of the Uniform Housing Code and other Related City Codes and Ordinances on Owner-Occupied and/or Vacant Boarded-up Residential Properties.
